General contractor questions

Do you work directly with general contractors?

Yes. General contractors, construction managers and owners can buy electrical and lighting materials from Excel directly, or have their electrical subcontractor buy under the same project name.

Can you quote a full electrical package from plans and specs?

Yes. Upload the electrical drawings, Division 26 spec sections and fixture, panel and equipment schedules with the quote form on this page. Our team reviews the scope and asks about anything unclear before quoting.

Can you quote bid alternates and substitutions?

Yes. List the alternates in your request. If a specified product isn’t available, we flag it and note comparable options for approval by your design team.

Can you quote owner-furnished lighting or equipment?

Yes. Send the approved selections and the owner’s purchasing contact, and we’ll quote the owner-furnished scope as its own package.

How are deliveries handled on a phased project?

Materials can be released by floor, area or phase with jobsite delivery, or picked up with will call pickup. Delivery details are confirmed with each order.

Can my electrical subcontractor buy through Excel on the same project?

Yes. Your electrical contractor can work with the same team under the same project name, and can open a trade account for their company.

Do you support tax-exempt projects?

Trade accounts can upload an exemption certificate on the application. Send the project’s exemption documents with your request and our team will review them.

Do you provide installation or engineering?

No. Excel is an electrical and lighting supply house. Design decisions stay with your engineer of record, and installation stays with your electrical contractor. We source the materials they specify.

What areas do you serve?

Excel supplies general contractors on projects across Michigan and beyond, and ships nationwide. Send the job site address with your request and we’ll talk through delivery or shipping.
